Horror Films that do Not get Enough Credit

As with every other genre, there are many horror films out there that are amazing that do not get enough credit.

We have seen a number of underrated horror films that we end up being impressed by. Some of them are actually really horrifying and executed well.

We wanted to share four horror movies weren’t rated very high, but in our opinion, should have been.

If you are someone who doesn’t watch certain horror movies based on their ratings, you should change your ways! Check one of these movies out, and you may just change your mind!

Dead Silence (2007)

Despite being directed by James Wan, the same man who directed Saw (2004), Dead Silence has a 3 star rating. It was said to be pointless and boring by critics, however, this movie has a lot

The film is about a man who investigates the murder of his own wife and finds that it may have to do with a ventriloquist who was murdered. This ventriloquist has a wild back story, which leads to the rest of the film playing out in a way that is both creepy and mysterious.

Check it out, and decide for yourself if this story deserves credit it did not receive.

House of Wax (2005)

The 2005 film House of Wax received 2 1/2 stars from critics, while it’s 1953 version received 3 1/2 stars. We imagine the reason it received such low ratings is because it did not live up to the standards of the first film.

In our opinion, the 2005 version of House of Wax remains very suspenseful and downright creepy.

This film is about a group of teenagers getting stranded in an old abandoned town where the main attraction is a wax museum. The only people who remain in that town are murderers, and the teens flee for their lives in hopes not to become the next exhibit.

This film is surprisingly realistic and thrilling.Whether you’ve seen the 1953 version or not, give this version a try. You just may enjoy it!

Eden Lake (2008)

Eden Lake received a rating of 3 1/2 stars and a great amount of people disliked it upon it’s release, but we feel it is still worth watching.

It is about a couple that wants to have a romantic weekend together. They get stranded due to a group of teenagers who vandalized and stole everything they have. What happens next is absolutely terrifying.

The story line is extremely disturbing and you will absolutely never guess how it ends.

Unfriended (2014)

A newer horror film than the others, Unfriended was very hyped up on social media prior to it’s release. Some were very disappointed, and it received only three stars from critics. However, this film has a story line that is very interesting and different from any other films of it’s kind.

Unfriended is about a group of teenagers having a Skype call, when suddenly one of their dead friends messages them. They don’t believe what they see and think it is someone messing with them or a glitch, until strange things start happening. This is where the suspense begins.

We were extremely impressed with this movie and definitely would recommend it to anyone who loves horror.
